Terra Gardens is a Design, Build and Maintenance company specializing in Ecological Landscape Design. Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, they also provide artisan carpentry, masonry, water management, and fine garden maintenance.
Through hand-drafted and digital renders, they work with their clients to create the perfect bespoke garden adopting a holistic approach to design. Describing themselves as stewards of the earth, they are committed to the environment, sustainable practices and creating beautiful spaces from high-quality materials to ensure they will stand the test of time.
Once the gardens are designed and built, Terra Gardens offers fine garden maintenance services, including irrigation repair, pruning, soil building and pest management. Using natural, eco-friendly, organic methods, they maintain spaces with an environmentally friendly approach.
We asked Owner and Lead Designer Adam Bustamante to tell us more about Terra Gardens. He talked to us about the conception of the business, his challenges and achievements and why he chooses to work with Yellowsack to handle his waste management.

Tell us about Terra Gardens; what do you do, and why did you set up your business?
We are an ecological landscape design, build and maintenance company. I started the company in 2016 with the hope of bringing my creativity and skillset to create spaces for homeowners to enjoy outside. The master plan is to slowly turn residential garden spaces in the bay area into spaces that give back to the land and can be developed using sustainable practices as much as possible.
What have been the best experiences/achievements working with your company and why?
The great thing about being a design/build firm is working with our clients from start to finish and being able to see the whole project from design to completion. I really enjoy seeing how our team can transform a space in a short amount of time. I am reminded of why I do this work, and the greatest achievement comes from clients who email us over the years telling us how much more time they spend outside, how their kids can play in the space, and how many great memories they have been creating.
How does your company stand out from its competitors?
We stand out by offering a great design and build process. We have an amazingly skilled team and have great relationships with our clients; we hold a very high standard of quality work.

What do you hope to achieve in the next year?
This next year, I am focused on continually trying to create a better experience for our clients, implementing new construction practices that are better for the environment, and learning how I can be a better business leader.
What prompted you to use Yellowsack, and how did you find us?
I was driving to a job site one day, and I saw the large yellow pickup truck with the words "Yellowsack" written on the side. I became intrigued, did a quick google search, and called your company. I talked to someone briefly from the team, and I had a few bags sent to my place the next day.
Why would you choose Yellowsack over competitor companies?
Yellowsack has been great to work with since day 1. Your team is responsive to our calls and texts. The bag concept is amazing, and it makes it easy for our team to set up on the job and get things organized quickly. Other trash companies don't offer as much flexibility (in my opinion) as you get with the bags. I also love being able to log into my account and to see how much waste we have produced (404,102 lbs) and how much Yellowsack has recycled for us (349,823 lbs). That's an 87% recycling rate!!
Why not use a dumpster company?
We primarily work in the east bay area, and in some of our jobs where they are located, it is hard to use a dumpster bin. With the Yellowsack bags, you have the flexibility to set up where you need them, they won't scratch any existing surface, and there's no time limit like you have with a dumpster bin rental.
