Why Redhorse and Yellowsack make green

Here at Yellowsack, we love helping your project run smoothly and efficiently and seeing the final results. From home renovations to larger builds, it's great to support a project to reach its full potential, with features such as excellent functionality and beautiful design underpinned by sustainability.

Environmental design is viable

As sustainable considerations are at the forefront of our thoughts, companies strive for viable, environmentally-friendly solutions. It would be easy to think that environmentally-conscious and viable projects were perhaps at odds. And while project cost will always be a significant consideration, the long-term benefits of spending more up-front on sustainable architecture are many, from savings on energy, materials built to last to better air quality and overall health.

Architects deploy many strategies when planning with sustainable objectives, from considering the surrounding landscape, energy, and stormwater management to eco-friendly materials and systems. They'll consider the climate, solar energy and orientation and high efficiency electrical and plumbing systems, and renewable energy such as wind and solar power.

One company that has been building sustainably since the early '80s is Redhorse Constructors. They are not only a building company but innovators in sustainability and construction technology leading the way in beautiful, environmentally-conscious design. They told us, "we live by the mantra "there is no stop." When others say it can't be done, we use our imagination, resolve, and wealth of skilled talent to find a way and move forward. With over 30 years of expertise, they provide practical solutions in all areas of construction, from difficult site conditions, integration of green building technologies, sophisticated mechanical and energy systems, and time/budget constraints.

Today, architects must consider the buildings entire life cycle with demolition and waste disposal calculations as key factors.
Redhorse Constructors

For the past four decades, David Warner, the founder and owner of Redhorse Constructors Inc. has been working on new urban formations around sustainable and resilient infrastructure and construction systems. He also serves as an advisor to startups creating new materials and systems with the environmental design intent. Redhorse has become a go-to as an exceptional services builder, forging relationships with many leading design professionals, subcontractors, and material fabricators in the Bay Area and beyond. David said, "Any project motivates us as long as it is creative and pushes the envelope in any direction, whether it is technology-based, land-use based, or construction-based."

As well as heading a leading sustainability construction company, David also co-founded the Human Needs Project working with academic and industry leaders to address the lack of essential services common in underserved urban populations. One project in Kibera town center in Kenya has provided water, toilets, showers, and empowerment services like business skills, also wifi, and a health kiosk to more than 800 people, helping to create a vibrant, sustainable community.

At Yellowsack, we not only admire the work that Redhorse is doing for global and local communities and the planet, but we also help them to reach their project and environmental goals by disposing of their waste responsibly with our multi-sized dumpster bags. We asked Erik Jorgensen a few questions about our service and why their company enjoys a close professional relationship with Yellowsack.

  1. What prompted Redhorse to use Yellowsack service, and how did you first find us?

The lack of space on our job site for a debris box. Not sure how we found you, internet search.

  2. How does Yellowsack help improve Redhorse objectives?

The convenience of loading bags on the curb allows us to keep the footprint small and get a pick up the next day.

  3. Why would you choose Yellowsack over competitor companies?

    Ease of use, convenience.

  4. Anything else you'd like to say about our service?

Once the driver is on his way, it might be cool to share his location through the text so we can see exactly where the driver is. If we can allow for easy access to the pickup in advance, there is less waiting on the driver's side.

Not only are we glad that Redhorse found and chose to be one of our regular valued clients, but we are also happy to tell them that the driver location feature is available through our new app - so Redhorse, Yellowsack has you covered!

As the climate crisis looms, architectural advancements must move at speed. Once buildings were designed as zero-carbon from a purely functional perspective, today, architects must consider the building's entire life cycle with demolition and waste disposal calculations, key factors.

That's where Yellowsack can help to provide a fast and efficient waste disposal service for a completely circular project.

Achieving a conscious life cycle

If more companies can follow Redhorse's mentorship and principles, then there is hope that we can one day achieve a complete environmentally conscious life cycle for all beautiful builds. Kunle Barker of Architects Journal says companies need to work together to fulfill these urgent objectives to tackle the environmental issue. "Industry-wide collaboration, with architecture firms sharing their successes and failures openly and honestly, is the only way to keep up with our rapidly evolving sustainability goals."

And that's why at Yellowsack, we believe sharing is caring; we are proud to work with Redhorse regularly to take your projects from initial idea to finished design. We share the workload and the environmental responsibility—Redhorse and Yellowsack equal greener homes for all.
